Living Abroad
Topics
Living abroad can be an extraordinary and life-changing experience. Unfortunately, we don't all get a chance to experience other cultures first hand, but perhaps the next best thing is to hear from those who have had this rare and wonderful opportunity. To enable a venue for such sharing of information, we're compiling a vast collection of interesting articles and vivid personal stories about living abroad.
Our goal is to honestly explore all aspects of this unique experience of immersing oneself in a foreign land. Living abroad can be many things: exciting, scary, enlightening, traumatic, uplifting, and sometimes downright shocking. We will present the experience, advice, and lessons learned from all different perspectives, including voices from both sides of the cultural divide.
We hope a broad range of visitors from around the globe will find this site interesting. However, we are currently focused on the experiences of foreigners living in Japan, and those of Japanese people living abroad. By sharing the ideas and perspectives of a diverse group of contributors, we aim to educate, entertain, and lower the understanding gap that sometimes exists between cultures. Whether you need a head start on your first trip to America or want to reminisce about your glory days as a gaijin in Japan, we hope you'll find happiness here.
If you would like to contribute your own special story or have an idea for an article that could benefit our community, we encourage you to contact us with your thoughts. This site was created for you, but it is also about you and by you! Only the strong and continued support of genuine contributors can make this site the authentic resource we want it to be, both for our peers today and for the generations to come tomorrow. So don't be shy and contact us today.
